Dego Hill

The Dego Hill, recognized as a Site of Community Interest (SCI), is a true naturalistic jewel that offers a fascinating circular itinerary immersed in a hilly landscape of extraordinary biodiversity. This route is an invitation for nature and hiking lovers to explore a still uncontaminated territory, where every step reveals new natural beauties. The area, carefully equipped for trekking with well-marked paths and rest areas, is ideal for those who want to get away from the daily frenzy and enjoy suggestive views, among the intense green of the woods and the silence broken only by the sounds of nature.

The most attentive and lucky hikers will be able to spot the roe deer, the symbol of this area, moving silently among the trees. The area is also a paradise for birdlife: here it is possible to observe different species of woodpeckers, such as the green woodpecker and the great spotted woodpecker, which inhabit the trunks of large trees. The wetlands, with their watercourses and crystal-clear springs, are home to a variety of amphibians, including the fire salamander, the alpine newt and the common frog, as well as the rare crayfish, a witness to the purity of the waters. This rich mosaic of natural life makes Collina del Dego an unmissable destination for ecotourism enthusiasts and for anyone who wants to rediscover the authentic charm of nature.

Starting from the Pian dei Siri area, you follow a well-defined circular route that touches various heights and points of interest, such as Bric del Lovera (659 m) and Piazza Grande (823 m). The path winds through lush forests of beech, oak and chestnut trees, giving visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in an uncontaminated environment rich in biodiversity.

Along the path, marked by specific signs, you pass through picnic areas such as the "Boscaiolo" and you pass by ancient ruins, such as the "Straccioira" houses, which bear witness to the local history and culture. The altimetric variation of about 600 meters and the estimated travel time of between 4.30/5 hours make this itinerary accessible to hikers with a good level of physical preparation.
